John Adams

John Adams is an entrepreneur with a programming and financial background, as well as an interest in photography that included converting a room in his parent's basement to a darkroom as a teenager. He has an MBA from Rutgers University, and started his career at First National State Bank of New Jersey in Newark. An interest in computers and programming developed at the bank led him to enroll at the Chubb Institute for Computer Technology in the mid 1980's, where he graduated near the top of his class. He was hired by Mountain Bell in Denver, CO to write financial reporting programs for the finance department at the former AT&T subsidiary where his background in finance proved useful.

In 1987 he had the opportunity to purchase a small specialty camera and photography security company called Regiscope. His love of photography and his desire to build his own company led him to purchase the company. The Regiscope camera was a unique dual-lens camera designed to record a transaction in real time by simultaneously imaging a person's face, ID and a document, thereby creating a record of the transaction. The company continued to grow and expand its market base. Even then, an important market for the Regiscope camera was the cargo market. The camera helped prevent the theft of cargo and aided in its recovery by typing a particular driver with a load of cargo through the multi-image photograph it took.

In 2001, John saw the possibilities to enter new markets with the creation of a digital Regiscope camera that would combine the multi-image capture of the original film camera with the added benefit of database records, scanner technology, reporting functionality, and network connectivity. Regiscope now has dealers in Africa and South America as well as the United States, and sells digital Regiscope camera systems to air cargo companies, trucking distribution centers, banks, and even governments to help them reduce risk.
